(August 12, 2011) -- Beginning on Thursday, August 18, the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) will open a new ramp from northbound US 29 to Briggs Chaney Road in Montgomery County.  The ramp is located approximately one-quarter mile prior to the existing ramp.  The through travel lanes along northbound US 29 will not be affected.

The shift of the ramp shift is necessary because of new ramps being built for the ICC/US 29 interchange. Electronic variable message signs are alerting motorists of the new traffic pattern. Temporary signing will also be will be used to alert motorists to the new traffic patterns.

This work is part of the “Contract C” section of the ICC, from just west of US 29 to east of I-95. The entire ICC between I-95 and I-370 is expected to open to traffic late this year or early-2012.

Citizens can now access free traveler information simply by calling 5-1-1 on a hands-free system or by logging onto MD511.org.
