(July 22, 2011) – This weekend, the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) will continue off-peak lane closures along MD 295 (Baltimore-Washington Parkway). The overnight lane closures will allow crews to continue work on two construction projects.

During the overnight hours, southbound MD 295 in various areas will be reduced to one travel lane in each direction.  Lane closures on the two projects are being coordinated.  Motorists expecting to travel through this area or to BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport should plan ahead and consider using I-95, I-97, US 1 or US 29.

Lane closures and times are as follows:

MD 295 / Hammonds Ferry Road Bridge Rehabilitation (south of I-695)

  • July 22 – 10 p.m. to 10 a.m.
  • Saturday night, July 23 – 10 p.m. to 10 a.m.
  • Sunday night, July 24 – 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.

MD 295 Widening between I-695 and I-195

  • Sunday night, July 24 – 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.

While the work area is limited in scope, lane closures must begin prior to the work zone to ensure the safety of motorists and workers.

SHA anticipates southbound MD 295 lane closures will start in the area of I-695.  For more information on these projects, log onto www.roads.maryland.gov.  Customers are also invited to follow SHA on Twitter @MDSHA.
