WHAT:
Temporary lane and road closures for placing steel beams on the US 13 Business (Salisbury Boulevard) bridge over US 50 Business (Ocean Gateway) in Salisbury.  US 50 Business will be reduced to one lane in each direction at the bridge, with occasional short-duration (15-minute) closures of all lanes throughout the night.  US 13 Business traffic will be split on the southbound lanes.

WHEN:
TUESDAY, April 26 beginning at 7 p.m. and continuing through 6 a.m. Wednesday morning, weather permitting.

WHERE:
US 13 Business at US 50 Business in Salisbury.

WHY:
This beam placement work is part of the third and final phase of a $5 million bridge rehabilitation project that includes elevation of the south end to provide greater clearance for truck traffic on US 50 Business, construction of a new bridge deck, sidewalks and safety barriers and repaving the bridge approaches.

NOTE:
Media wishing to cover this late-night work MUST be escorted to the work zone and must wear appropriate safety gear including a hardhat and reflective vest.  Crews will be placing beams up to 90 feet long over US 50 Business, making this a unique photo and video opportunity for local media.

Crane setup and preparations will take place during the evening, with beam placement expected to begin late Tuesday night and continue through early Wednesday.  Media interested in covering this event should coordinate with Bob Rager, SHA District Community Liaison, 443-463-3768, rrager@sha.state.md.us.

SHA expects to complete the project this summer, weather permitting. For more project information, visit roads.maryland.gov or follow SHA on Twitter @MDSHA.
