(November 1, 2010)  As part of the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration’s (SHA) Intercounty Connector (ICC) project, construction crews will temporarily close all four lanes of northbound I-270 north of Exit 6 (West Montgomery Avenue) for brief 15-minute intervals this Thursday morning, November 4, between midnight and 4 a.m.  Crews will be installing overhead ICC signs.

Single lane closures along the general use lanes and the merge lanes will begin at 9 p.m. on Wednesday night, November 3; double lane closures are expected to begin in the general use lanes by 11 p.m. with total 15 minute closures of the general use lanes permitted between midnight and 4 a.m., November 4.  The merge lanes lanes will remain open during the 15-minute closures.

The sign installation is part of the Contract A section of the ICC from I-370 to East of MD 97 (Georgia Avenue). Contract A is scheduled to open in late 2010/early 2011.

SHA reminds motorists to: “Think Orange” as they drive through the work zone, reduce speeds and be attentive.  For more information about the project, citizens may call the ICC Community Outreach staff at 1-866-462-0020.
