Motorists Advised to Plan for Extra Travel Time on Weekdays and Stay Alert for Lane Closures and Flagging Operations

(April 24, 2009) – On Monday, April 27, the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) will begin a $205,000 highway maintenance project to repair pavement along sections of MD 130 (Greenspring Valley Road) between MD 140 (Reisterstown Road) and MD 25 (Falls Road). Weather permitting, the project will be complete mid-June.

During pavement repair work, sections of Greenspring Valley Road will be reduced to one lane with flagpersons controlling traffic within the work zone. Lane closures and flagging operations may take place at any time between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. SHA’s contractor for the project is Gray and Son, Inc. of Timonium, Maryland.

During the next several months, there could be more than 350 work zones. Remember that work zones are not only large construction projects possibly taking years to complete, but include smaller, mobile operations such as mowing, pothole repair and litter pick ups.
