(September 16, 2010) – The Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) will next week begin a $521,000 roadway project to resurface and repair sections of US 222 (Rock Springs Road) between Ragan Road and Pennsylvania State line in Cecil County.  Weather permitting, work will begin on or about Wednesday, September 22 and be complete by early October.

Crews will resurface nearly two miles of US 222 north of the Conowingo Dam.  SHA may close a lane or shoulder while working between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. weekdays.  SHA will place variable message signs, cones, drums and flag persons to guide motorists through the work zone.

Statewide, ARRA-funded projects such as these are stimulating Maryland’s economy by providing and preserving thousands of jobs. They are producing long-term cost savings by extending roadway service life, while improving safety and ride quality.

SHA awarded the contract to American Infrastructure-MD of Fallston.  Motorists are reminded to drive at the designated speed as marked for the work zone.  To learn more about this project and others along State-maintained routes in Cecil County, citizens may call the District 2 Office at 410-778-3061 or toll-free at 1-800-637-9740.
