(September 16, 2010) – The Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) next week will begin a $100,000 roadway project to resurface the roundabout at the intersection of MD 273 (Rising Sun Road) and MD 276 (Jacob Tome Memorial Highway) in Cecil County.  Weather permitting, work will begin on or about Thursday, September 23 and be complete by early October.

SHA will resurface the pavement within the roundabout as well as the approaches.  SHA may close a lane or shoulder while working between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. weekdays.  SHA will use variable message signs, cones, drums and flag persons to guide motorists through the work zone.  Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes to reach downtown Rising Sun.

SHA awarded the contract to American Infrastructure-MD of Fallston.  Motorists are reminded to drive at the designated speed as marked for the work zone.  To learn more about this project and others along State-maintained routes in Cecil County, citizens may call the District 2 Office at 410-778-3061 or toll-free at 1-800-637-9740.
