What:
The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) will host two public hearings for the MD 4/Thomas Johnson Bridge Planning Study in southern Maryland.

Why:
SHA is evaluating the potential capacity, safety and traffic operation improvements along the MD 2/4 corridor.  Project limits extend from Patuxent Point Parkway in Calvert County to MD 235 in St. Mary’s County.  The public hearing process allows citizens to offer written or verbal comments before a preferred alternative is selected.   All comments are kept as part of the project record.

When/Where:
Tuesday, September 28
Patuxent High School, 12485 Rousby Hall Road, Lubsy
Wednesday, September 29
Esperanza Middle School, 22790 Maple Road, Lexington Park

The Open House begins at 5 p.m. followed by a formal presentation at 6:30 p.m.  The opportunity for public testimony will follow.

Each person who signs up to present comments will have no more than three minutes to speak.  Testimony may also be provided to a court reporter or sent to SHA in writing.

To be added to the speakers’ list, please contact Mr. Jeremy Beck, Project Manager, no later than Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at 1-800-548-5026 or jbeck@sha.state.md.us.  Maryland Relay Service teletype users may call 711.  Sign language or non-English speaking interpreters are available and should be requested prior to the meeting date.
