(July 19, 2010) – Last week, the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) started $1 million project to reconstruct and improve safety along two sections of MD 462 (Paradise Road) in Aberdeen.  The first section is between MD 132 (West Bel Air Avenue) and Colaine Drive adjacent to Aberdeen High School; the second section is between Hillcrest Drive and the bridge over Carsins Run. 

The one-mile project includes: pavement repair, milling, and resurfacing; replacement of curbs, gutters and inlets where needed; construction of Americans with Disabilities Act compatible ramps; highway drainage system improvements; and installation of new traffic barrier and reflective pavement markings where needed.  The project begins today and will be complete late-August, weather permitting.  

During construction, crews may work along sections of Paradise Road at any time between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.  Crews may temporarily shift lanes along Paradise Road and there may be occasional lane closures with flagging operations may occur.  Please plan for extra travel time along Paradise Road this summer. 

The MD 462 project is made possible through Governor O’Malley’s aggressive management of the requirements of the landmark American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).  This project, together with other ARRA projects, is stimulating Maryland’s economy by preserving and creating thousands of jobs.
