WHO:   
4th Grade science class from Sandymount Elementary School Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) Staff Department of Natural Resources (DNR) biologists

WHAT: 
Students from two Carroll County Elementary Schools helped SHA name the goats and sheep, as well as the herd that are currently grazing in a bog along the MD 30 Bypass in Hampstead.  These animals help control invasive species from changing the dynamic of the sensitive ecosystem without harming the threatened Bog Turtles that live there.  Students will take a field trip to the location to hear from SHA and DNR biologists about the importance of conserving and enhancing habitat of threatened species in Maryland.   On Monday, June 7th, the 5th Grade science classes from Hampstead Elementary school will take a field trip to see the goats, sheep and turtles.

DIRECTIONS: 
Northbound I-795 to the end of the expressway at second traffic signal in Glyndon.  Turn left to northbound MD 30 (Hanover Pike) for approximately 5-7 miles.  At the Baltimore/Carroll County line, use roundabout to access northbound MD 30 (Hampstead Bypass).  Park and ride located at the intersection of MD 30 Bypass and MD 482 (Hampstead Mexico Road).  Park and ride is on the left side of the roadway.
