Drivers Can Expect Temporary Overnight Detours During Project
(October 9, 2025) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will improve shoulders on eastbound I-70 at MD 68 (Clear Spring Road) in Washington County beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, October 10. This work will require a temporary closure and detour of eastbound I-70 at St. Paul Road. The work should be completed by Saturday, October 11, weather permitting.
Motorists will be detoured from St. Paul Road to MD 68 East (Clear Spring Road) to US 11 North (Green Castle Pike) in Williamsport to MD 63 (Greencastle Road) and back to eastbound I-70. Drivers should allow extra commuting time during work.
The State Highway Administration contractor, Triton Construction, Inc. of St. Albans, WV, will use signs, construction barrels and cones to safely guide drivers through the work zone.
The State Highway Administration works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits as well as other traffic pattern changes.
