Drivers Can Expect Nighttime Double-Lane Closures
(May 22, 2025) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will repair pavement along westbound I-695 (Baltimore Beltway - Inner Loop) near MD 648 (Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard) in northern Anne Arundel County starting as soon as May 27. The work is expected to be completed by mid-summer, weather permitting.
Starting 8 p.m. on Tuesday, crews will mill, patch and resurface a section of the inner loop (westbound) I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) between the MD 648 (Baltimore-Annapolis Boulevard) overpass and Hammonds Ferry Road.
Drivers can expect up to two lanes to be closed for nighttime work. The project also includes the southbound MD 170 (Camp Meade Road) ramp to westbound I-695, and the westbound I-695 / MD 168 (Nursery Road) / Fairview Avenue interchange ramps. Contractor crews are permitted to work from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sundays to Thursdays.
Contractor Allan Myers MD of Fallston will use variable message signs, barrels, and temporary traffic signs to advertise work hours, sign the overnight ramp detour routes, and guide drivers through the work zone.
Drivers should plan for additional travel time or use alternate routes. Customers who have questions about this work may contact the District 5 Office at 410-841-1000 or toll-free at 1-800-331-5603.
The State Highway Administration works hard to maintain
safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits as well as other traffic pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones. Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
