Drivers Should Expect Overnight Travel Lane Shifts from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

(August 8, 2024) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will resurface a section of MD 178 (Generals Highway) between Crownsville Road and I-97 in Anne Arundel County, starting Sunday night, August 11. Completion of the work is expected mid-September, weather permitting.

Drivers should expect an overnight travel lane shift 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sundays through Thursdays. Contractor Allan Myers MD of Fallston will use portable variable message signs, cones and barrels to guide drivers through the work zone. Drivers should also remain alert for flagging operations at driveway entrances.

The State Highway Administration appreciates customers’ patience during this necessary work to maintain and improve the transportation system. Drivers are asked to stay alert, stay focused, look for reduced speed limits as well as driving pattern changes and slow down in construction zones.

Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.

This work is being completed under an areawide contract to address pavement conditions in Anne Arundel County. Customers may contact the State Highway Administration District 5 Office at 410-841-1000 or toll-free at 1-800-331-5603 for additional information.
