Motorists Can Expect Nighttime Single-Lane Closures

(August 10, 2023) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin a project to improve the pavement on nearly five-miles of MD 27 (Ridge Road) between MD 26 (Liberty Road) and Nicodemus Road in Westminster on Sunday, August 13. The project is expected to be complete in early October, weather permitting.

The project includes milling, patching, paving, and restriping the lanes and shoulders of MD 27. Drivers can expect single-lane closures guided by a flagging operation Sundays through Friday mornings 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The State Highway Administration’s contractor, Francis O. Day Co, of Rockville, will use signs, barrels, cones, flaggers, and arrow boards to safely guide motorists through the work zone. Motorcyclists should use extra caution for uneven pavement during the resurfacing project.

The State Highway Administration understands lane closures associated with road construction may be an inconvenience, but the work is necessary to maintain a world-class transportation system. Motorists should slow down and pay close attention while driving through work zones.
