Drivers Can Expect Temporary Lane Closures August 13-18

(August 10, 2023) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will implement overnight and daytime lane closures along I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) in central Baltimore County from Sunday night, August 13 through Friday afternoon, August 18.

The lane closures are required for relocation of utilities, installation of new roadside infrastructure, installation of new Intelligent Transportation Systems hardware, and relocation of temporary and permanent traffic barriers. These tasks are part of the I-695 Transportation Systems Management and Operations project from I-70 to MD 43 (White Marsh Boulevard). Learn more about the project here.  All construction work and lane closures are weather permitting.

Beginning Sunday night, motorists can expect the following:

Overnight Lane Closures

  • Westbound I-695 (outer loop) from MD 25 (Falls Road) to Stevenson Road: Overnight single lane closures at 8 p.m. with double lane closures 10 p.m.-5 a.m. the next day, Sunday, August 13 through Thursday, August 17.
  • Eastbound I-695 (inner loop) from MD 140 (Reisterstown Road) to I-83: Overnight double lane closures 10 p.m.-5 a.m. the next day, Sunday, August 13 through Thursday, August 17.

Daytime Shoulder Closures:

  • Westbound I-695 (outer loop) from I-95 to I-83 – right shoulder closures between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday August 14–18.
  • Westbound/Southbound I-695 (outer loop) from I-83 to I-70 – Right shoulder closures between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, August 14–18.

The State Highway Administration understands the lane closures will inconvenience some travelers and asks all motorists to please stay alert and be patient as you pass through the work zone.

Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
