<DIV>(July 6, 2009) – Just in time for summer travels, the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) today released Maryland’s Official 2009-2010 Highway Map with vibrant details of every route and interstate from east, west, north and south.&nbsp; Larger, with improved easy-to-read text, the map includes a new tourism informational panel, BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport parking map and larger insets of the Baltimore/Washington area and Central Historic Annapolis.&nbsp; </DIV>
<DIV>Whether you are a novice or seasoned driver of Maryland roads, this map is the must-have accessory to incredible journeys year-round.&nbsp; With everything from state parks and welcome centers, to a mileage chart and town index, you are sure to find a wondrous Maryland destination for your summer vacation.<BR>&nbsp;<BR>“While many people use on-line map services or in-vehicle global positioning systems, there is nothing like using a colorful paper map to plan a trip,” said State Highway Administrator Neil J. Pedersen.&nbsp; “Maryland has so much to offer and the map shows you just how close you are to recreation, entertainment, sightseeing and shopping.”</DIV>
<DIV>Tested for use by people who are color blind, this modern map includes a 3-Dimensional relief of the mountainous terrain in Western Maryland along with color-highlighted counties.&nbsp; For those who need larger print, a large print version of the map is available by request.&nbsp; </DIV>
<DIV>Not just for drivers, the map features rail lines, transit connections, and park-and-ride lots so everyone can travel with ease and relaxation.&nbsp; SHA is dedicated to ensuring that all customers have pleasant travels.&nbsp; Most importantly, SHA wants you to arrive at your destination safely. So be sure to review the rules of the road on the back of the map, including how to Choose Safety for Life and B-SAFE – Buckle up, Slow down, Always stay sober, Focus, Everyone share the road- everyone gets home. </DIV>
