(August 14, 2019) – Beginning 9 p.m. Tuesday, August 27, the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will temporarily close and detour both directions of I-68 at MD 639 (Willo​wbrook Road). The temporary overnight closure and detour is necessary to move the bridge rehabilitation project into the final traffic shift to perform the median barrier work on the rehabilitated bridge. The $6.2 million project will be complete mid-fall.

This detour will run from 9:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 28. Traffic will be directed off the exit ramp, across MD 639 and back to I-68. One direction will be set up at a time and when that side is complete the detour will be switched to the other direction. The detour will be completed and removed by 6:00 a.m. Approximately 17,000 motorist travel on this section of I-68 daily so you are encouraged to allow additional travel time for your commute.
