All Lanes Will Reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26
(Aug. 21, 2019) ¬– Starting Friday night, Aug. 23, at 9 p.m., Edmondson Avenue will be closed at the I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) bridge in Catonsville. Eastbound Edmonson Avenue traffic will be detoured using Delrey Avenue, MD 144 (Frederick Road), I-695 and back to Edmondson Avenue. Westbound traffic will be detoured to I-695, US 40 (Baltimore National Pike), Ingleside Avenue and then back to Edmondson Avenue. The roadway will reopen by 5 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 26.
The weekend closure is necessary for crews to remove the existing outer loop I-695 bridge, which will be reconstructed to accommodate the fourth lane on the outer loop of I-694 between south of US 40 and MD 144. The entire $68 million I-695 Southwest Outer Loop widening project is scheduled to be complete late fall 2021. For project information, click here.
Motorists are encouraged to plan for extra drive time during the weekend closure.
MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our contractor. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on the road and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.
