STATE HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION TO RESURFACE MD 550 IN THURMONT, FREDERICK COUNTY

Motorists Should Expect Single Lane Closures Through Mid October          
          
(September 8, 2008) – The Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) has begun a $250,000 project to resurface approximately one mile along northbound and southbound MD 550 (Church Street) from US 15 (Catoctin Mountain Highway) to MD 77 (Main Street) in Thurmont, Frederick County. SHA expects to complete the project by mid October, weather permitting.           
          
Motorists should expect single lane closures and lane shifts along MD 550 between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Flagpersons, barrels, cones, and arrow boards will guide motorists through the work zone. More than 10,000 vehicles travel along this section of MD 550 each day, motorists should expect delays.
