(October 12, 2012) – The State Highway Administration (SHA) will conduct multiple openings of the MD 331 (Dover Road) Bridge on Tuesday, October 16, weather permitting, to perform routine maintenance operations.

The short closures of the bridge will last no longer than those needed for an average vessel to pass through the swing bridge and will be conducted only between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.  If inclement weather prevents the maintenance work as originally scheduled, it will be conducted on the following day.

Dover Bridge connects Talbot and Caroline counties on MD 331.  The routine inspection work will be performed by Covington Machine and Welding, Inc. of Annapolis.

While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers.  Slow down and don’t follow too closely.  Safer driving. Safer work zones. For everyone!
