Weekend Work Begins 8 P.M. Friday March 13; Drivers Reminded to Remain Alert for Construction Crews and the New Traffic Pattern
(March 11, 2026) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will shift traffic at the MD 175 / MD 295 interchange reconstruction project this weekend in Anne Arundel County beginning at 8 p.m. Friday night March 13 and continuing until 5 a.m. Monday morning March 16.
Once complete, eastbound MD 175 drivers heading toward Odenton will use two lanes on the existing MD 175 bridge, and westbound MD 175 drivers heading toward Jessup will use two lanes on a section of the new bridge. To prepare for these operational changes:
- The southbound MD 295 ramp to westbound MD 175 will be closed starting at 7 a.m. Saturday March 14 through early Sunday morning, March 15. Once reopened, all traffic exiting southbound MD 295 will use this ramp to reach eastbound or westbound MD 175. The existing ramp from southbound MD 295 to eastbound MD 175 (Southwest Loop Ramp) will close.
- The northbound MD 295 ramp to eastbound and westbound MD 175 will be closed starting at 7 a.m. Sunday morning March 15 until 5 p.m. that evening.
Each ramp closure will have posted signs to guide drivers along each detour. Drivers should also remain alert for a flagging operation at the MD 175 / Milestone Parkway intersection. The MD 175 lane shift enables SHA and its contractor to continue new roadway widening for the project. Concrete barriers will also be installed along the left shoulder in each direction. All work is weather permitting,
Contractor Richard E. Pierson Construction Co., Inc. of Pilesgrove, New Jersey will use portable variable message signs, flag persons, temporary traffic signs, cones and barrels to guide drivers through the work zone. SHA advises that all drivers also plan additional travel time throughout the weekend or use alternate east-west routes such as MD 100 and MD 32. Customers who have questions may contact the SHA District 5 Office at 410-841-1000 or 1-800-331-5603.
The State Highway Administration appreciates customers’ patience during construction as we work to improve Maryland’s transportation system. Drivers are asked to stay alert, stay focused and be aware of reduced speed limits and changing driving patterns in the work zone. Slow Down and move over in work zones.
