Speed Limit Will Be Lowered to 45 MPH Between Civic Avenue and Hobbs Road in Salisbury
(March 10, 2026) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will lower the speed limit on US 50 Business (East Salisbury Parkway/Ocean Gateway) between Civic Avenue and Hobbs Road on Friday, March 13. The speed limit will be reduced from 55 MPH to 45 MPH.
The State Highway Administration recently completed a traffic study on this 2.7-mile section of roadway and determined the speed reduction would improve safety for all highway users. New signs that display the new speed limit of 45 miles per hour will be installed to alert motorists of the change.
SHA appreciates customers’ patience during construction as we work to improve Maryland’s transportation system. Drivers are asked to stay alert, stay focused and be aware of reduced speed limits and changing driving patterns in the work zone. Slow Down and move over in work zones. It’s the law.
