Warmer Temperatures Facilitate Bridge Deck Concrete Repairs
WHAT:
Patching an 8 x 20 foot section of the MD 331 (Dover Road) Bridge over Choptank River (“Dover Bridge”).
WHEN:
Beginning Tuesday, March 15 at 7 a.m. and continuing until concrete has cured (dried and set). This work is weather-dependent and may take up to two days. Concrete patches must cure for at least 24 hours before the lane can be reopened to traffic.
WHY:
Bridge deck maintenance. While patching small areas of the ride surface is normal and ongoing, temperatures were too cold through late winter for the larger concrete patches that are occasionally needed.
IMPACTS:
This work will require a continuous single lane closure and flagging operation with delays likely during peak travel times. Motorists traveling this area Tuesday and Wednesday should plan ahead - allow extra time or seek alternate routes.
