WHAT:
The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) is hosting an informational workshop to inform residents of an upcoming project to improve safety and interstate access at the I-68/US 220 (McMullen Highway) interchange west of Cumberland, and plans to maintain traffic during construction.
Display areas will be available to illustrate the project and SHA staff will be available to discuss the project and answer questions.  Attendees may feel free to arrive at any time and walk through at their own pace.

WHEN:
Thursday, September 8 between 5:30 and 7:00 p.m.

WHERE:
Allegany High School – Library
616 Sedgwick Street, Cumberland 21502

WHY:
Earlier this year, SHA presented a plan to close the Brown Avenue ramp to I-68.  SHA has since modified the plan and the Brown Avenue ramp will remain open.  Proposed improvements include:
• Lengthening the merge area on the US 220 ramp to eastbound I-68.
• Constructing a partial roundabout on US 220 to provide access to I-68 eastbound from northern Cumberland and from US 220 southbound.

Customers who would like more information about the project may contact Linda Puffenbarger, Project Manager at lzerbee@sha.state.md.us or toll-free at 1-800-760-7138. Maryland Relay Service is also available by dialing 7-1-1.
