(August 10, 2011) – The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) is inspecting and repairing the Forestville Road Bridge over I-95/I-495 (Capital Beltway) after it was struck by a dump truck.  Two right lanes on the outer loop (northbound) I-95 at Forestville Road will be closed for most of the day, as well as Forestville Road over the Capital Beltway.  SHA is also closing the inner loop I-495 ramp access to Forestville Road.

SHA has established the following detour routes:
• Motorists on the outer loop (Northbound) I-95/I-495 must use to exit 7 MD 5 (Branch Avenue) and turn left to MD 458 (Silver Hill Road) then turn right onto Suitland Parkway to Forestville Road.

• Motorists on the inner loop (Southbound) I-95/I-495 must use to exit 11 MD 4 (Pennsylvania Avenue) and turn right to Forestville Road/Ritchie Road.

Additionally, motorists on northbound I-95 should consider using MD 337 (Allentown Road) to Suitland Parkway to westbound MD 4 and back to I-95.

The closures and detours will be in place for much of the day, possibly into this evening as crews make emergency repairs to the bridge in a safe and expedient manner.  Motorists should log onto www.roads.maryland.gov and click CHART for the latest information about the Forestville Road Bridge and other roadway information throughout the State.  Citizens can also follow SHA on Twitter for traffic updates and other important information @MDSHA.
