(November 4, 2010) – This weekend, the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) will temporarily close US 1 (Belair Road) in the White Marsh/Perry Hall area of Baltimore County to repair a 30-inch drainage pipe underneath Belair Road.

To safely accomplish this work, SHA will temporarily close Belair Road from Ridgely/Necker Roads to Old Forge Lane.   This section of Belair Road will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday, November 5 and 11 a.m. Saturday, November 6, and again from 6 p.m. Sunday, November 7 to early Monday morning, November 8.  Southbound Belair Road will re-open Monday morning by 5 a.m. and northbound Belair Road will re-open by 7 a.m.  Residents will have access to the driveways north of Ridgely/Necker Roads and south of Old Forge Lane throughout the weekend.

SHA will use variable message signs, detour sign, cones and barrels to guide motorists through the work zone.  Motorists traveling along Belair Road between Fullerton and Kingsville residents will use detour routes:

• Belair Road north will detour to MD 43 to Perry Hall Boulevard to Silver Spring Road back to Belair Road.

• Belair Road south will detour to Silver Spring Road to Joppa Road to Walther Boulevard to MD 43 (White Marsh Boulevard) back to Belair Road

In case of inclement weather, the work will occur during the weekend of November 12, with the same detours in effect.
