(August 12, 2010) – On Saturday August 14, the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) will resurface US 13 Business (North Salisbury Boulevard) at the US 50 Business (Ocean Gateway/West Salisbury Parkway) interchange in Salisbury.  Work also includes paving of the bridge approach on West Church Street at US 13 Business.

SHA will have one lane open on US 13 Business in each direction from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday August 14.  Motorists who plan to use US 13 Business in this area are encouraged to plan ahead and take alternate routes.  Additionally, West Church Street and Broad Street will be closed at US 13 Business.

Motorists attempting to access US 13 Business from West Church Street must turn prior to US 13 Business on either Baptist Street or Poplar Hill Avenue.  Those wishing to access US 50 Business West from US 13 Business should use Main Street to Baptist Street.  Detour signs will be posted to guide motorists through the work zone.

US 13 Business will be elevated approximately one foot at the approaches to US 50 Business bridge to align with the new bridge deck.

Originally constructed in 1961, the US 13 Business bridge over US 50 Business carries an annual average of about 33,000 vehicles per day.  The resurfacing work is part of a $4 million contract awarded to A&M Concrete Corporation of Dulles, VA.

SHA encourages all motorists to drive responsibly and “Think Orange” while driving through highway work zones by driving the speed limit and remaining alert at all times.
