(July 16, 2010) – The Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) will temporarily close and detour the ramps from I-95 northbound and southbound to westbound I-695 (Inner Loop) on up to five consecutive nights between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. beginning Monday, July 19 through Thursday night, July 22.

Overnight travelers on northbound and southbound I-695 going to westbound I-695 (Inner Loop) will be diverted to eastbound I-695 (Outer Loop) past I-695 Exit 10, US 1 to I-695 Exit 9, Hollins Ferry Road.  Travelers will be sent through the Hollins Ferry Road interchange back to westbound I-695, then to I-95.

The temporary ramp closures and detours are part of SHA’s project to widen and reconfigure the I-95 ramps to westbound

I-695 in southwestern Baltimore County.  In case of inclement weather, overnight ramp closures and detours will take place on the next possible weeknight.  The State’s contractor for the project is Pessoa Construction, Inc. of Fairmount Heights, Maryland.

The overall project is currently slated for completion in late fall 2010, weather permitting.  Citizens with questions about this project may contact SHA’s District Four Office – Construction Division at 410-229-2420, toll-free at 1-866-998-0367, or by e-mail at shadistrict4@sha.state.md.us
