(May 12, 2010) – This weekend during the overnight hours, the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) will temporarily close the ramp from I-495 (Outer Loop Capital Beltway) to northbound MD 650 (New Hampshire Avenue) in Montgomery County.  The work is anticipated to close the ramp between 8:30 p.m. and 4 a.m. Saturday, May 15 and Saturday, May 22, weather permitting.

The $65,000 project includes stabilizing the right shoulder along the ramp from the Outer Loop to northbound MD 650.  Other work includes, installing an inlet and pipes to tie into the existing drainage, backfill the eroded areas, and resurfacing the shoulder.  The work is necessary to repair a washout of the ground along the right shoulder of the exit ramp.

During the closure detours will be posted.

For motorists wishing to access northbound on MD 650 from the Outer loop, motorists will be directed to continue to the exit for southbound MD 650, continue in the right lane on southbound   MD 650 to the exit for eastbound I-495 (Inner loop), continue eastbound on the Inner loop to the exit for northbound MD 650.

SHA awarded the project to Tessa Structures, LLC.  When workers are on the road, THINK ORANGE, which is the color of construction signs, barrels and warning devices.  Please slow down, stay alert and expect the unexpected.  Choose safety for life and to make work zone safety your business at www.choosesafetyforlife.com
