(April 27, 2010)-- On Saturday May 1, the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) will shift traffic along Notley Road to a temporary road adjacent to existing Notley Road, between Royal Forest Lane and Paula Lynn Drive.  The shift is necessary to construct the permanent Notley Road Bridge over the Intercounty Connector (ICC).

Crews will shift traffic between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.  As crews shift traffic, Notley Road will be reduced to one lane and a flagging operation will be in effect.  SHA reminds motorists to expect delays when traveling through this area on May 1.  This traffic pattern will remain in place for approximately one year as the new bridge is constructed.

As of April 15, Contract B, which extends from east of MD 97 to west of US 29, is approximately 32 percent complete.  SHA awarded the $559.7 million Contract B to MD 200 Constructors, a joint venture of Kiewit Southern Co., G.A. & F.C. Wagman, Inc. and Corman Construction, Inc.

SHA encourages all motorists to Choose Safety for Life and “Think Orange” while driving through work zones by observing the speed limit and remaining alert at all times.  More information about the Choose Safety for Life Campaign may be found at www.choosesafetyforlife.com .
