Crews Will Return in Clear Weather to Complete Permanent Repairs

(February 21, 2015 – 11 p.m.) – Earlier tonight, MD 26 (Liberty Road) at Saint Luke’s Lanes just inside the Baltimore Beltway was closed due to a damaged roadway joint, apparently snagged by a plow. State Highway Administration (SHA) crews placed a steel plate over the joint, which connects the roadway to the structure, and will make permanent repairs in clear weather.

The roadway joint is not part of the actual structure and does not impact the structural integrity of the bridge, which is rated in fair condition. There was an unrelated incident on the overpass involving a vehicle that caught fire but did not damage the bridge.

SHA reopened the roadway after securing the steel plate in the eastbound travel lanes. SHA will issue an update on the schedule for permanent repairs, which will be made during off-peak hours.

Traffic Alert from Maryland State Police

Additionally, the Maryland State Police (MSP) reminds anyone who left their vehicles along interstates that the vehicles must be moved. MSP will arrange for towing for all abandoned vehicles. If you return for your vehicle and it has already been towed, dial #77 and you will be connected to the nearest police barrack, which will have information on where you vehicle was towed.
