​Upgrades Planned Along MD 45 from Newell Avenue to Towson Roundabout 

(April 1, 2025) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration, in collaboration with the Baltimore County Department of Public Works and Transportation, will host a virtual public meeting from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, to share information and answer questions about the MD 45 (York Road) Roadway Improvement and Water Main Replacement Project along York Road from Newell Avenue to the roundabout at E. Joppa Road and Dulaney Valley Road. (see map).

The purpose of the project is to upgrade the roadway surface and water main that extends along this approximately half-mile stretch of York Road in Towson. Improvements include the upgrade of sidewalks, ramps and commercial business entrances to be compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Traffic signals, intersection lighting, signage and pavement markings will also be upgraded. SHA and Baltimore County will make every effort to complete this project as quickly as possible while minimizing impacts on residents and motorists.

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times during construction and crews will work at night as necessary to limit impacts on pedestrian travel.

During the virtual public meeting, the project team will familiarize attendees with details, including location, scope, duration and methods that will be used to minimize traffic impact. Construction is scheduled to begin in summer 2025 and is anticipated to be completed fall 2027.

Those who call in will be able to hear the presenters and discussion but will be unable to see the presentation.
