Drivers Can Expect Off-Peak Daytime and Nighttime Single-Lane Closures

(March 20, 2025) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin several roadway improvement projects in Carroll, Frederick and Howard counties in the coming weeks. The projects include milling (removing the top layer of asphalt), repairing roadway depressions, constructing a new roadway surface and installing new line striping. All work is expected to be complete by late spring, early summer, weather permitting.

The projects are:

Carroll County

Frederick County

Howard County

F.O. Day Company, based in Rockville, is the contractor for the Frederick County projects. The contractor in Carroll and Howard County is C.J. Miller, LLC, based in Hampstead.

All projects are dependent on weather and schedules may change due to the forecast and roadway conditions. The State Highway Administration appreciates the traveling public’s understanding and patience as we complete these projects to improve roadway safety.

The State Highway Administration works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits as well as other traffic pattern changes.
