Motorists Should Expect Traffic to be Detoured March 24 through March 27
(March 20, 2025) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin a project to remove debris that has accumulated under the MD 68 Bridge over Conocoheague Creek in Williamsport beginning March 24. The project is expected to be complete by Thursday evening, March 27, weather permitting.
Drivers will be detoured weekdays 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Local traffic will be allowed through the area.
MD 68 will be closed at US 11 and at Cedar Ridge Road. The detour routes will be as follows:
- For westbound MD 68: Drivers will be directed to US 11 north (Potomac Street) to MD 63 north (N. Artizan Street), to US 40 west (National Pike) to northbound Cedar Ridge Road and back to MD 68.
- For eastbound MD 68: Drivers will be directed to Cedar Ridge Road to US 40 east to MD 63 south to US 11 south and back to MD 68.
The State Highway Administration’s contractor, Concrete General, Inc. of Hagerstown, will use cones, barrels, and signs to guide motorists through the detour.
The State Highway Administration appreciates customers’ patience during this necessary work to maintain and improve Maryland’s transportation system and keep it in a state of good repair. Drivers are asked to stay alert, stay focused, and slow down in work zones.
Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
