Drivers Should Expect Single-Lane Closures during Rehabilitation Project

(May 16, 2024) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin a project to rehabilitate the MD 128 (Butler Road) bridge over the CSX Railway in Glyndon on Monday, May 20. The project should be complete by mid-summer, weather permitting.

Crews will begin the project by making repairs to the concrete sidewalk on the bridge. After Memorial Day, work will begin to improve the bridge deck (driving surface), which will consist of milling, patching, waterproofing and paving the bridge deck. Crews will work Mondays through Fridays 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Drivers can expect single-lane closures guided by a flagging operation. Motorists should build in additional commuting time during the bridge rehabilitation project.

The State Highway Administration’s contractor, Marksmen Construction of Baltimore, will use cones, barrels, and flaggers to safely guide motorists through the work zone. Motorists are asked to slow down and stay alert while driving through work zones. The State Highway Administration understands that roadwork can be impactful but is necessary to maintain a world-class transportation system.

Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
