Expect 24-Hour Right-Lane, Temporary Bus Stop Closures and Sidewalk Closures/Detours this summer near Loch Hill Road beginning May 20

(May 16, 2024) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin 24-hour single-lane and sidewalk closures on a section of MD 542 (Loch Raven Boulevard) at Loch Hill Road, north of the Baltimore City/County line on May 20. The work will be complete in late summer, weather permitting.

The temporary lane closures will allow contractor crews to safely replace a damaged 240-foot segment of concrete highway drainage pipe and move an overhead utility pole along the roadway.

The northbound right lane and sidewalk will be closed from 1,000 feet south of Loch Hill Road to 100 feet north of Loch Hill Road.  Pedestrians will be directed to use southbound MD 542. Crews will work on weekdays 7 a.m.-3 p.m.; however, the lane and sidewalk closures will be in effect 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The southbound right lane will be closed between Regester Avenue and Loch Hill Road.

Sidewalks on southbound MD 542 will be open and serve as an alternate route for northbound pedestrians; the bus stops on southbound MD 542 will remain open for bus riders. Highway users should allow extra commuting, walking, and cycling time during the project.

Maryland Transit Administration bus riders traveling on CityLink Green Route, Local Bus 53, and Local Bus 103 are advised that three bus stops on northbound MD 542 will be closed for the duration of the drainage pipe replacement work:

Bus riders on northbound MD 542 should use Stop #593 at Meridene Drive south of the work zone and Stop #12729 at Regester Avenue north of the work zone for the duration of road work.

The State Highway Administration’s contractor, Allied Contractors, Inc. of Baltimore, will use arrow boards, barrels and cones to safely guide highway users safely through the work zone.
