US 50 sign
Nighttime Lane Closures for Asphalt Work Scheduled Through Late Spring 2024
(March 27, 2024) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will repair pavement sections at five US 50 (John Hanson Highway) bridge approaches between the Prince George’s County line and Interstate 97 in Anne Arundel County.
Starting March 27, crews may close two lanes on either eastbound or westbound US 50 at the following bridge locations overnight, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m., Sundays to Thursdays:
- US 50 Bridge over the Patuxent River at the Prince George’s County line
- US 50 Bridge over Patuxent River Road, west of the MD 424 interchange
- US 50 Bridge over Rutland Road, east of the MD 424 interchange
- US 50 Bridge over the South River, west of the I-97 interchange
- US 50 Bridge over South Haven Road
Crews will first begin asphalt work along the eastbound US 50 lanes at the Patuxent River bridge at the Prince George’s County line. The State Highway Administration’s contractor Ardent Company, LLC of McClean, VA will use variable message signs, barrels and temporary traffic signs to guide motorists through the work zone. All work is scheduled for completion by late spring 2024, weather permitting.
The State Highway Administration works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits as well as other traffic pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.
Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
