Drivers Should Prepare for Single-Lane Closures and Temporary Overnight Ramp Detours
(March 27, 2024) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration continues areawide roadway maintenance along the MD 198 and MD 32 corridors this spring in Anne Arundel County.
Starting Thursday night March 28, crews will mill (remove the top layer of asphalt), patch, pave and restripe a segment of MD 198 from Airfield Road near Tipton Airport to the Mapes Road interchange. This roadwork also includes the two roundabouts and all connecting Mapes Road interchange ramps. Overnight work hours are scheduled 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays for single-lane closures and ramp detours directing drivers to the MD 175 or MD 295 (Baltimore Washington Parkway) interchanges.
The State Highway Administration’s contractor, Allan Myers MD of Fallston, will use variable message signs, cones, flaggers, and temporary traffic signs to guide motorists through the work zone. This phase of work is scheduled for completion in early April, weather permitting.
The State Highway Administration works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits as well as other traffic pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.
Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
