Motorists Should Expect Single-Lane Closures, Delays During Work Hours

(March 7, 2024) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin two resurfacing projects in Worcester County beginning on Monday, March 11. Both resurfacing projects should be complete by the beginning of May, weather permitting.

Crews will begin resurfacing nearly one-mile of MD 378 (Baltimore Avenue) between North Division Street and 15th Street  in Ocean City on March 11. The work includes milling (removing the top layer of asphalt), paving and restriping Baltimore Avenue. Crews will work Monday-Thursday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Fridays from 7 a.m. - 12 p.m. Motorists can expect single-lane closures guided by a flagging operation.

The State Highway Administration will improve approximately four miles of MD 366 (Stockton Road) between US 13 Business (Ocean Highway) and MD 703 (Klej Grange Road) near Snow Hill beginning on Monday, March 18.  The work, including milling and paving, should be completed by May 1, weather permitting. Drivers can expect single-lane closures Mondays through Fridays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The State Highway Administration’s contractor for both projects, Allan Myers, Inc. of Dover, Delaware will use arrow boards, cones, and flaggers to safely guide motorists through both work zones. Drivers should expect traffic impacts and delays during work hours on each road.

The State Highway Administration understands that roadwork will inconvenience travelers, but the work is necessary to maintain a world-class transportation system.  Motorists should pay close attention and slow down while passing through the work zones. Motorcyclists are urged to be aware of uneven pavement surfaces during the project.
