Closure required for Quarter-Mile Section; Work Expected to End in December
(November 2, 2023) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration is assisting with a road closure on
Alternate US 40 (Old National Pike) between Mt. Phillip Road and US 40 (West Patrick Street), a quarter-mile span, in Frederick County starting Monday, December 11. The project is part of a Frederick City-approved commercial development of three acres of land along Alternate US 40. The work is expected to be complete by January 5, weather permitting.
Starting on Monday, December 11 at 8 a.m., crews will close both directions of Alternate US 40 to construct new turn lane movements for the new commercial space in West Park Village. Motorists will be detoured using Old Camp Road. Businesses in this area have existing access on US 40.
The contractor, Pleasants Construction, Inc. based in Clarksburg, will use electronic message boards, signs, and barrels to alert motorists about the road closure and guide them through the detour route.

The State Highway Administration maintains safety in work zones for our crews as well as motorists. Drivers need to stay alert, stay focused, look for reduced speed limits as well as driving pattern changes, and slow down in construction zones.
Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
