Drivers Advised to Expect Daytime Single-Lane Closures in October, November

(October 11, 2023) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin a resurfacing project on October 13 on US 1 (Belair Road) between Mount Vista Road and Jerusalem Road in Kingsville. The $1.2 million project should be complete by mid-November, weather permitting.

The project includes milling (removing the top layer of asphalt), paving, and restriping approximately one mile of US 1. Drivers should expect single lane closures on US 1 Mondays through Fridays, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The State Highway Administration’s contractor, Gray and Son, Inc. of Timonium, will use temporary traffic signs and cones to guide drivers safely through the work zone.

The State Highway Administration understands roadwork can be an inconvenience but is necessary to maintain a safe and reliable highway system. Drivers are asked to slow down in the work zone for the safety of all drivers and the crews working to improve our roadways.

Customers may contact the State Highway Administration District 4 Office - Construction Division at 410-229-2300 or toll-free at 1-866-998-0367 for additional information.

Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
