Starting Monday, Motorists Should Expect Traffic Delays During Work Hours

(September 28, 2023) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin a paving project to repair damaged sections of roadway along US 13 Business (Ocean Gateway) on Monday, October 2, in the Fruitland and Salisbury areas of Wicomico County. The work is expected to be complete by the end of the month, weather permitting.

Starting Monday, crews will begin working on US 13 Business between Main Street and US 13/US 50 Bypass and US 13 Business northbound from Main Street in Fruitland to Dogwood Drive in Salisbury.

Crews will work weekdays, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Motorists can expect single lane closures throughout the duration of the project.

The State Highway Administration’s contractor, Allan Myers, Inc. will use arrow boards, cones, and flaggers to safely guide motorists through the work zone. Drivers should expect major traffic impacts with significant delays during work hours.

The State Highway Administration understands that roadwork will inconvenience travelers and asks all motorists to please stay alert and be patient as you pass through the work zone. Hot asphalt may require up to two hours to cool before drivers and pedestrians can safely cross the new road surface. Motorcyclist are urged to be aware of uneven pavement surface during the project.
