Project will Close Ramp to Eastbound MD 140 This Weekend and Next Weekend

(September 21, 2023) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin repairs to the concrete ramp on MD 97 (Littlestown Pike), both north and south directions, to eastbound MD 140 (College View Boulevard) in Westminster. The work requires a ramp closure this weekend and next weekend.

Starting tomorrow, September 22, at 9 p.m., the MD 97 ramp will be closed to traffic so crews can safely make repairs to the concrete road surface. The work includes repairing depressions and cracks to improve safety on the ramp.  The ramp closure will be in effect until 5 a.m. on Monday, September 25.

Motorists on MD 97 driving to eastbound MD 140 will be directed to take westbound MD 140, turn left onto WMC Drive and then turn left onto MD 31 (New Windsor Road) to access eastbound MD 140.

The State Highway Administration’s contractor, MIM Construction, Inc. of Mount Airy, will use electronic message boards, signs, and barrels to safely guide motorists through the work zone and detour route.

The ramp will also be closed for repairs starting at 9 p.m. on Friday, September 29 until 5 a.m. on Monday, October 2.

The State Highway Administration understands ramp closures associated with road construction may be an inconvenience, but the work is necessary to maintain a world-class transportation system. Drivers should slow down and move over in work zones – it’s the law.
