Drivers Can Expect a Traffic Lane Shift North of Grey Rock Road to Begin Thursday, In Effect 24/7 Through Mid-November

(September 20, 2023) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration advises travelers that BGE will begin a new electric reliability upgrade project northbound MD 140 (Reisterstown Road) between Grey Rock Road and Stone Chapel Lane on Thursday, September 21, after 9 a.m. The lane shift is expected to be complete by mid-November, weather permitting.

BGE’s contractor will install temporary concrete barriers and shift travel lanes along northbound MD 140 in the project limits to create an underground utility work zone using the right lane.  Once the work zone is in place, it will be in effect 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

All business entrances/exits will be maintained during utility work, with temporary modifications as needed. The main entrance/exit from MD 140 to Arden Courts Promedica Assisted Living facility will be temporarily changed to an entrance only; all drivers exiting the Arden Courts facility will use Stone Chapel Way to reach MD 140.

The State Highway Administration understands utility work on State highways can be an inconvenience but is necessary to maintain reliable electric service.  Drivers are asked to slow down in the BGE work zone for the safety of all drivers and the crews working in the area.

For more information, customers may contact BGE’s community outreach team for this location at (240) 583-7922 and reference the Dolfield Substation - Site 6 project.
