Drivers Should Expect a Complete Ramp Closure and Detour on Two Weekends

(August 8, 2023) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin a project to repair a concrete ramp at northbound MD 97 (Littlestown Pike) to westbound MD 140 (College View Boulevard) in Westminster on Friday, August 11. The start date has been postponed until the following weekend.

On Friday, August 18 and Friday, August 25, crews will close the ramp at 9 p.m. and reopen it by 5 a.m. that Monday. During the ramp closure, crews will patch and pour new concrete. Drivers will be directed by detour signs from northbound MD 97 to eastbound MD 140 (Baltimore Boulevard) to eastbound MD 27 (Manchester Road) to westbound MD 140.

After pouring the concrete, it will take time for it to come up to the necessary strength. Contractor MIM Construction of Mount Airy, will use VMS boards, signs, and barrels to safely guide motorists through the work zone.

The State Highway Administration understands ramp closures associated with road construction may be an inconvenience, but the work is necessary to maintain a world-class transportation system.  Remember that motorcycles can be hidden from view in vehicle blind spots. Please look twice and save a life.
