For Two Weekends, Motorists Can Expect Double Lane Closures with Traffic Shifts Overnight

(August 7, 2023) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will repair and patch sections of concrete pavement along westbound US 40 (Pulaski Highway) at Ebenezer Road in Whitemarsh on Friday, August 11. The work will take place over two weekends, and is expected to be complete by August 21, weather permitting.

Beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, August 11, and Friday, August 18, motorists can expect temporary double lane closures along westbound US 40 in the vicinity of Ebenezer Road, with traffic shifted to one side of the roadway. Crews will work 9 p.m. Friday – 5 a.m. Monday. The weekend of August 25 will be used as a rain date in case of inclement weather.

Motorists traveling on westbound US 40 between Joppatowne and White Marsh are advised to plan for extra travel time and consider using MD 7 (Philadelphia Road) as an alternate route. The State Highway Administration’s contractor, Gray & Son, Inc. of Timonium, will use arrow boards, cones, and barrels to safely guide motorists through the work zone.

The State Highway Administration understands lane closures associated with construction are an inconvenience but are necessary to maintain aging concrete pavement. Drivers should pay attention and slow down while driving in work zones.

Customers who have questions about this $100,000 project may contact the State Highway Administration District 4 Office – Construction Division at 410-229-2300 or toll-free at 1-866-998-0367 during business hours.
