​Motorists Should Expect Closure, Detour from 9 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday​

​​(July 31, 2023) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will temporarily close and detour the MD 161 (Darlington Road) bridge over Deer Creek in Harford County overnight on Thursday, August 3.  

From 9 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday, contractor crews will pour concrete on the bridge as part of the State Highway Administration’s $2.7 million project to rehabilitate and enhance safety on the bridge. Brawner Builders Inc., of Hunt Valley is performing the bridge work. Learn more about the project here.  

During the overnight bridge closure, motorists traveling on MD 161 between US 1 (Conowingo Road) and MD 155 (Level Road) may use US 1, MD 136 (Priestford Road) and MD 155 as a detour. In case of inclement weather, the bridge concrete work and detour will take place on the Sunday, August 6 or later.
