Drivers Can Expect Temporary, Total Closure and Detour Overnight During the Pipe Replacement Project in Libertytown
(May 25, 2023) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will work one night next week to replace a damaged drainage pipe under MD 75 (Green Valley Road) near North Street in Libertytown, Frederick County. The work will begin at 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, and is expected to be complete by 5 a.m. the next morning, Thursday, June 1, weather permitting.
On Wednesday evening, crews will close MD 75 in both directions to remove and replace the pipe. Motorists will be guided to a detour tour using MD 26 (Liberty Road) to MD 31 (New Windsor Road) and Coppermine Road, then back to Green Valley Road.
Road crews will use electronic signs, barrels and cones to alert motorists about the road closure and guide them through the detour route. The State Highway Administration understands that road closures and detours can be inconvenient, but the work is necessary to maintain a safe and reliable transportation system for all.
As summer nears, all motorists are urged to remain vigilant for pedestrians, bicyclists and motorcyclists. Remember that motorcycles can be hidden from view in vehicle blind spots. Please look twice and save a life.
Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
