(May 26, 2022) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will begin a project next week to improve drainage, replace sidewalk ramps, repair sections of curb and patch both directions of MD 144 (East Patrick Street) between East Street and I-70/Quinn Orchard Road in the City of Frederick. Starting at 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, crews will patch two miles of MD 144 and pave a quarter-mile section of roadway from East Street to Carroll Creek. Work will require daytime single-lane closures and flagging operations Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting. The project is expected to be complete in June.

The contractor, MIM Construction Inc., based in Mount Airy, will use signs, cones, electronic arrow boards, and barrels to alert and guide motorists through the work zone.

The work is part of a road transfer agreement between MDOT SHA and the City of Frederick. Once the project is complete, the City of Frederick will take ownership and maintenance of this stretch of MD 144.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.
