​Project Team Seeking Input on the Design Concept 

(April 21, 2022) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will hold a virtual public informational meeting 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, regarding the widening project on MD 197 (Collington Road) from Kenhill Drive to MD 450 (Annapolis Road) in Bowie, Prince George’s County.     

The project is currently in the design phase. Once completed, the project would result in improved safety and access to residences, schools and parks for pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists. The project’s scope includes realigning and enhancing the existing shared-use path along northbound MD 197 and widening 1.4 miles of MD 197 from a two-lane undivided roadway to a four-lane divided roadway. The preliminary design phase is anticipated to be complete as early as fall 2022.    

The meeting will be held using Microsoft Teams, and the meeting link will be posted on the Project Portal page, at https://bit.ly/MDOTSHA-MD-197-Kenhill-Dr-to-MD-450. During the meeting, the MDOT SHA project team will give a presentation about the preferred design concept and accept questions and input. The public is encouraged to submit comments prior to the meeting via the Project Portal page.
